Pokerstars: "We're happy to inform you you can't cash out right now."

April 21, 2011 by bookie
I have a balance at PokerStars that I requested after the sites were allowed to open back up. The request went through ok, and I breathed a sigh of relief when I found out the U.S. government is not going to hassle the sites as they make these restitutions.

So I was surprised when I got this weird letter informing me that they'd canceled my payout request:

Hello Bookie

We were very pleased to receive the news that allows US players to cash out their real money balances.

In response to this update, the Cashout Option in the PokerStars Cashier will be temporarily... More...

Rakeback Site's Statement on Poker Siezures

April 17, 2011 by bookie
I get my rakeback through a site called RakeDiamond, and they sent us a letter that spells out some measures they're advising players to take. I thought it might be of interest to some here. It's a little long-winded and salesy, but I thought it worth throwing on the pile.

Looks like Max's claim that he had a binding arbitration agreement with SBR was pure hooey.

Excel Formula for Handicapping Version of "True Shooting Percentage"?

January 23, 2011 by bookie
I'm sure people here know there's a fairly new stat in basketball called "true shooting percentage" which weighs a players success drawing free throws and making three point shots.

I keep separate workbooks for my moneyline and pointspread bets because I like to know how I'm doing in each, and especially what my strike rate is in a set of categories that I have filters for (dogs, favs, overs, unders, and a few reason types).

I've been thinking about redoing my spreadsheet, though, because it's kind of a hassle to go to a separate workbook to enter the moneyline bets.... More...

Attention: Mr. Gold-Pay

May 9, 2010 by bookie
I've been looking at this place and haven't been satisfied with their coherence. For example this is from their page of e-check instructions.
Important info about E-checks:

The max limit on the first E-check is $250.
After your first E-check is approved your limit will be automatically increased to $500 every 14 days.
If your limit is $500 you can write multiple checks as long as the total amount is under $500 in the last 14 days.
The check service fee is per check and not...

Anbybody Use ParlayMakers.Com Yet?

December 3, 2009 by bookie
Looks like an interesting site. (Learned about here a couple of days ago.) They've partnered with Matchbook, so that you send them the parlay that you want to bet and within 20 minutes they've put it up in the X-bets section.

So you don't send them any money. It's all done through MB.

Right now they are offering juice free parlays capped at $100. I can see there could be problems with having a 20 minute delay, but nice to see someone trying to fill this niche. Would be sweet to eventually have a safe place to get 2.85-1 on parlays at... More...
